From the best OLED display, to dual rear cameras, to the ever-shrinking bezels, phones have remarkably evolved over the years due to modern technology. As soon as you acquire the latest handset, a cooler model is introduced in the market. Most phone makers have settled for the idea of a yearly upgrade cycle, therefore, 2018 won’t disappoint. Now is the time to get a new phone or upgrade your smartphone since there are several ground-breaking handsets that are set to emerge this year. Some of them include:
Samsung Galaxy Note 9
Just like every other quality product associated with Samsung, there are rumours that the Samsung Galaxy Note 9 will come with high-tech features such as a bezel-less display, new S Pen, latest Exynos chip, waterproof built, an increased resolution, iris scanning for the camera, improved battery life, and 6GB of RAM. It’s also rumoured to include an all-glass front and an under-display fingerprint sensor. The Galaxy Note 9 still has some time left to its launch in August, which means plenty more information could surface in the coming months. But, upon its release, this phone is likely to get the Android crown.
Google Pixel 3
The Pixel line will definitely release yet another hit this year with The Google Pixel 3. This phone will feature the latest Snapdragon 845 processor, better camera with possibly fewer lenses at the back, increased RAM and storage, 18:9 pOLED panels, further improved Google Assistant, and much more. The phone may also be water resistant and have a single camera system. TheGoogle Pixel 3 should launch in October 2018. This gives you enough time to learn more about this phone in the coming months.
Apple iPhone SE 2
The Apple iPhone SE 2 may not see many changes as it’s aimed to upgrade Apple’s super-small, entry-level handset. It will probably have glass backing, Apple’s blisteringly fast A10 chip, and a touch ID. This phone might also be cheaper, well at least in Apple terms. This could mean no Face ID and no headphone jack. We expect the iPhone SE 2 to launch in September since it wasn’t released during the WWDC (Worldwide Developers Conference).
The Moto Z family will release three new models this summer; the Moto Z3, the Moto Z3 play, and the Moto Z3 force. All three will possibly have 18:9 6in borderless displays and the Snapdragon 845 inside. But, the Z3 force might come with Quad-HD resolution; whereas the Z3 and the Z3 play will still have full-HD. Rumour has it that Motorola may be ditching the fingerprint scanner for an iris scanner. If you are looking for a new phone on a tight budget, then these are the phones to watch out for this year.
It’s time for us to stop speculating and look at the HTC U12+, which is already official since its release was in May. This phone comes with a Snapdragon 845 processor, a dual rear-facing camera, dual-cameras front and back, (18:9) 6in Quad-HD display, standard flagship fare, and 6GB of RAM. Even though the phone isn’t on sale yet, you can pre-order yours from HTC.
The Xiaomi’s upcoming flagship will offer the same hardware or perhaps even more at lower prices compared to its UK rivals. The Xiaomi Mi8 will have a 6.2in OLED screen, wireless charging, dual frequency GPS, a rumoured in-screen fingerprint scanner, and much more.
